With the second generation of the ID.3, Volkswagen's compact electric car receives a complete upgrade. Purposefully modified details make the ID.3's appearance even more impactful. The new ID.3 is equipped with the latest generation of software, which can improve system performance and receive over-the-air updates.
The new ID.3 has a length of 4.26 metres, a width of 1.81 metres and a height of 1.56 metres. Like its predecessor, the second generation ID.3 impresses with a long wheelbase and short overhangs. In the basic size, the ID.3's boot has a capacity of 385 litres, which becomes 1,267 litres with the rear sofa backrests folded down and the load at full height.
The interior of the second generation of the ID.3 impresses with innovation and sustainability. The interior equipment is completely free of animal products. For the upholstery of the doors and seats, ArtVelours Eco microfibre was used, which consists of 71 per cent recycled material: a so-called secondary raw material derived from the recycling of plastic waste that has already been disposed of at least once before.
The electric engine in the VW ID.3 is located in the rear and generates 150 kW (204 hp) and 310 Nm of torque. The rear motor ensures great manoeuvrability and traction. In addition, it allows a small turning diameter of 10.3 metres. Traction is made possible by a highly efficient permanent magnet synchronous motor (PSM), which offers efficiency well in excess of 90 per cent in virtually every driving situation. The power unit weighs only around 90 kg. The new ID.3 Pro is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. The top speed is 160 km/h.
The new ID.3 is available with two different battery sizes: 58 and 77 kWh. The lithium-ion battery makes a decisive contribution to the ID.3's versatile character: with a net capacity of 77 kWh, the larger battery enables an expected range of up to 546 kilometers (WLTP) in the ID.3 Pro S or 426 kilometers (WLTP) in the 58 kWh ID.3 Pro.
