Ferrari LaFerrari: the supercar using F1 technology with 963 hp

Ferrari LaFerrari was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. It was one of the first production models from the "Cavallino Rampante" to incorporate the HY-KERS system, which allows energy to be recovered during braking and cornering to be used for more engine power, bringing the technology developed by the Maranello company in Formula 1 to a road car.

The car is fitted with a mid-mounted, naturally aspirated 6262 cm³ V12 engine delivering 800 hp at 9250 rpm.

In addition, the HY-KERS energy recovery system, with the additional 163 hp developed by the associated electric power unit, brings the total output to 963 hp.

We are in 2013
The Ferrari LaFerrari was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and simultaneously on a dedicated website as one of the first production cars from the "Prancing Horse" to incorporate the HY-KERS system. This system makes it possible to recover energy during braking and cornering, which can then be used for more engine power, bringing the technology developed by Maranello in F1 to a road car.

Innovative and distinctive design
The Ferrari does not specifically take up any of the styling cues of Maranello's past hypercars and is only partly inspired by the "Sport Prototype of the Cavallino" of the late 1960s. The underbody is characterised by three movable wings at the front to generate appropriate downforce, with the aim of balancing the car under acceleration, braking and cornering. Such solutions are also present at the rear in the area of the extractor and spoiler.

Engine power
The car is powered by a mid-mounted, mid-mounted, naturally aspirated 65° V12 engine of 6262 cm³ delivering 800 hp at 9250 rpm. In addition, the HY-KERS energy recovery system with the 163 hp developed by the associated electric powertrain brings the overall power output to 963 hp and the maximum overall torque to over 900 Nm. The Ferrari has an indicated top speed of over 350 km/h and guarantees acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds, from 0 to 200 km/h in less than 7 seconds and from 0 to 300 km/h in just 15 seconds.

Technological innovation
The HY-KERS system allows the recovery of kinetic energy developed during braking or deceleration and the distribution of this energy to the electric motors powering the car's accessories, including the air conditioning. The kinetic energy recovery system and the start-stop system reduce carbon dioxide emissions and improve fuel efficiency.

The perfect combination of performance and efficiency
Ferrari's 2013 LaFerrari, only 500 examples of which were produced, represents the perfect combination of performance and efficiency thanks to its HY-KERS technology, innovative aerodynamics and engine power that allows the car to drive at peak performance. The LaFerrari is undoubtedly destined to become one of the iconic and most desired models of the Italian manufacturer and the entire automotive scene.
