The transformation is not just about the engine. But above all, it is a matter of aerodynamics, which distorts the appearance of the French sports car. In addition to the wing, actually composed of two individual pieces, the Alpine A110 Pikes Peak sports a large splitter and two large deflectors at the front, necessary to generate the right aerodynamic load.
The track ahead? A track with a total length of almost 20 kilometres, designed with no less than 156 curves. Enrolled in the Time Attack 1 category, this hill-climbing racer can also count on side skirts, a specific diffuser and a conspicuous air intake that acts as an antechamber to a Le Mans-style shark fin.
Fresh from its first tests, next week the A110 Pikes Peak will be driven for the first time by its driver, Raphaël Astier, in its final configuration. A 'warm-up' in Val Thorens, Savoie (France), before setting off for Colorado (USA).
