SUPERCAR
The most beautiful supercars at the service of the Police in the world
The faster the criminals flee, the faster the police have to be in pursuit. And in order to be more and more efficient, the military is equipped with powerful supercars to be able to intervene in full-throttle pursuits.
A few examples? The Italian police have the now famous Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 with 610 horsepower, while the municipal police of Milan (Italy) can fight lawbreakers at the wheel of a special Ferrari 458 Spider capable of up to 570 hp.
We can then admire the brand new Alpine A110 of the French Gendarmerie, the Porsche 911 (model 991) of the Austrian Police, or the latest arrival among the paladins of justice from the United Arab Emirates, which answers to the name of Audi R8.
Police of the world at full speed
The faster the criminals flee, the faster the police have to be in pursuit. And to be more and more efficient, the military is equipped with powerful supercars to be able to intervene in full-throttle pursuits. But which are the most powerful police cars in the world?
Japan - Nissan GT-R
Life has become tough for criminals in the Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. The local police received a Nissan GT-R in 2018. Under the bonnet is the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 with 572 hp and 632 Nm of torque. Power is delivered to all four wheels via a six-speed dual clutch transmission. Official figures speak of 2.8 seconds for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h. The top speed is 320 km/h.
Italy - Alfa Romeo Giulia
The pairing of Alfa Romeo and the Police has always been a popular one. In this case we are talking about the new Alfa Romeo Giulia, which joined the force this year. It is not the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, which serves the Carabinieri, but the version with the 2.0 turbo petrol engine with 200 hp. That is far more power than that of the Alfa 159 or Giulietta, which over the years have established themselves as faithful servants of the forces of law and order.
United Arab Emirates - Lykan HyperSport
The Emirates is home to one of the world's most exclusive supercars. Best known for its role in 'Fast & Furious 7', the Lykan HyperSport was produced in a run of just seven 2.5 million euro examples and one of them is being supplied to the Abu Dhabi police. The 770 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque (and especially the 395 km/h top speed) are more than enough to safely patrol all the streets of the Middle Eastern capital.
Austria - Porsche 911
The Porsche 911's experience with the Austrian police lasted only a few months. The example delivered in 2017 and 'loaned' by Porsche was a 911 generation 991, suitably transformed with red and blue livery. During its 'tenure', the car was used to patrol the motorway network.
France - Alpine A110
A few months ago, the French police car fleet was enriched with 26 Alpine A110s. The compact sports car replaces the Renault Megane RS and can count on a 1.8 turbocharged 252 hp which, combined with its weight of only 1100 kg, allows the sports car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and reach 250 km/h.
Italy - Ferrari 458 Spider
Milan's municipal police can fight lawbreakers at the wheel of a special Ferrari 458 Spider capable of reaching 570 hp. The car has been suitably converted, but so far has never been used for high-speed chases or other urgent activities.
United Arab Emirates - Audi R8
The United Arab Emirates is a paradise for supercars and the police have to adapt. One of these cars is the Audi R8, equipped with a mighty 5.2 V10 with 620 hp and capable of touching 330 km/h.
Italy - Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4
The Lamborghini Huracan of the State Police is not only used for chases, accidents or patrol operations. It is often used for special services and extremely urgent operations, such as organ transport.
United Arab Emirates - Lykan Hypersport
We end on a high note with the Lykan Hypersport in the Abu Dhabi Police Force. It put on the uniform in 2019 and hasn't taken it off since. On the other hand, with a supercharged 3.7-litre six-cylinder boxer engine, 770 hp and 1000 Nm of torque, the local thugs have very little to worry about...
