SUPERCAR

A compact sports car with a 1.0 turbocharged engine is coming from Toyota at 15,000 euros

A two-seat, non-electric compact sports car. This is what Toyota is developing, according to Japanese media reports.

A development in collaboration with Suzuki and Daihatsu, based on the Sport EV unveiled in December 2021, among the many electric concepts shown to anticipate the brand's future.

The idea is to create an heir to the historic MR2 sports car, produced by the Japanese manufacturer between the end of last century and the beginning of the current one.

The project
The idea would be to create an heir to the historic Toyota MR2 sports car (pictured), produced by the Japanese manufacturer between the end of last century and the beginning of the current one. The design is expected to recall, in large part, that of the concept from just over a year ago, with some elements from Daihatsu Copen, the brand's small coupe.

What about the engine?
The dimensions will be compact, about the same as those of Sport EV concept, just over four meters in length. Under the hood will be a 1.0 turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline engine with about 120 horsepower and 200 Nm of maximum torque, with mild hybrid Suzuki technology. Enough power to satisfy and entertain those who will get behind the wheel.

Rumors on prices
Incredible price, considering that we are talking about 2.2 million / 2.8 million yen, or between 15,000 and 20,000 euros. However, it will hardly be possible to import this "little gem" even in Europe, given all the bans imposed by the EU. But we are certainly not talking about a Toyota Supra (pictured).
