ELECTRIC CARS
Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, the first hybrid has 655 hp and all-wheel drive
Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray. The first electrified version of the sports car retains the strong link with the V8, but evolves it into a more "green" one, with an electric motor that takes over at constant speed or when maximum thrust is needed.
The Corvette E-Ray combines a 6.2 V8 with 502 hp and 637 Nm of torque with an electric motor with 163 hp and 165 Nm.
The former controls the rear wheels, while the latter delivers power to the front axle by receiving energy from a 1.9 kWh battery pack located between the seats. In total, the E-Ray produces 655 hp discharged to the ground via the "intelligent" eAWD all-wheel drive.
Halfway between tradition and the future
Chevrolet celebrates 70 years since the birth of the first Corvette with a unique model of its kind. This is the Corvette E-Ray.
A 655 hp powertrain
The Corvette E-Ray is fitted with the naturally aspirated V8 (LT2) of 6.2 liters of the Chevrolet Stingray with 495 hp and 637 Nm, which sends torque to the rear axle. On the front axle, however, there is an electric motor with 160 hp and 165 Nm, connected to a 1.9 kWh battery that is located in the two seats. The total system power is 655 hp.
Fast and snappy
Although attention to consumption is never a fundamental point of the Corvette (and of American sports cars in general), the E-Ray adapts to our times, so much so that it can travel in electric-only mode (renamed "Stealth Mode") up to 72 km / h. And if you push on the accelerator, the Corvette does not let itself pray. The brand declares a 0-100 km/h of 2.5 seconds that make the E-Ray the fastest Corvette in history.
A lot of technology
The technical sector of the Chevrolet is very complete and also includes the Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 suspensions with three modes and the Brembo braking system with carbon-ceramic discs. Available in 14 colors (including Riptide Blue, Seawolf Gray and Cacti, debuting in 2023), the Corvette can also be combined with the new Artemis Dipped interior with carbon moldings and green details. The driver can count on six driving modes: Tour, Sport, Track, Weather, My Mode and Z-Mode, to which are added the aforementioned Stealth and the Charge+function, which maximizes energy recovery.
Price and availability
The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray will go on sale in 2023. The E-Ray will be offered in coupé and convertible version with prices starting at $ 104,295, equal to about 96,000 euros at the current exchange rate.
